Developer Custody
In the Developer Custodial Model, you—the Developer—retain custody of funds on behalf of the Organizations you manage through the API. When using the Payouts API, your Transfer API Key serves as the authorization mechanism to initiate and move funds from managed Accounts.
Under this model, Mural provides API-based tooling and infrastructure to facilitate payments, data access, and operational workflows, but does not act as the custodian of record and does not assume regulatory responsibility for the custody or transmission of funds.
Organizations using the Developer Custody Model are solely responsible for ensuring they are properly authorized to custody and transmit funds. This includes, as applicable:
- Maintaining their own Money Transmission Licenses (MTLs) in relevant jurisdictions, or
- Operating under a valid licensing sponsorship or bank partnership that permits custody and money movement activities
NoteIn this model, Mural does not take custody of any funds managed through the API. As a Developer, you are solely responsible for securing your API keys and implementing appropriate security controls to ensure the safe handling of funds.
